Many sites offer book reviews, book talks, or book recommendations. Here are a few of our favorites:

Kalokairi (Summer) Reading

As a reminder, ALL new and returning students are required to participate. This is a schole (school) activity, not just an English class requirement. Students who are enrolled in AP English or IB English next year are exempt from this list and instead should read their course-specific texts.

DIRECTIONS:
1. Review this PDF for descriptions, reading level information, and reviews of each book. Additionally, there are Common Sense Media reviews included that detail any content that parents may wish to be aware of.
2. Read at least one novel of the six suggested.
3. Complete the online quiz, found at http://www.quia.com/profiles/kstepp14. Each quiz has 25 questions, with a mixture of multiple choice and true/false. The quiz is online, open book, and not timed. This will count as ONE TEST GRADE in your English class for the 2015-2016 school year.
4. All this needs to be completed before Selene's Day, Metageitnion (September) 7, 2015, regardless which term you are taking English.

NOTE: Quizzes and reading reviews from previous employer and librarian, Kate Stepp at South View High School. Used with permission.
